Evans General Contractors 2022
I am immensely appreciative of the invaluable learning experience I gained during my inaugural internship with Evans, particularly in the field of construction. My entry into this industry, devoid of prior knowledge concerning construction and contracting procedures, opened the door to a wealth of novel concepts and processes that enriched my professional growth.
During my internship, I had the privilege of engaging in two distinct facets of the construction realm under the guidance of esteemed mentors. The first phase of my internship, under the tutelage of Tanner Case, Liz O’Conner, and Chris Hilgeman, revolved around the intricate realm of estimating. This phase was instrumental in my development as I acquired essential skills such as proficiency in using BuildingConnected, the art of cold calling subcontractors, and the ability to adeptly estimate construction supply prices. It was a hands-on experience that provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the crucial pre-construction phase.
The second phase of my internship afforded me the opportunity to gain practical on-site experience, shadowing Michael Grindel. This immersion into the construction site environment allowed me to witness the real-world implementation of the concepts and processes I had learned during the estimating phase. It provided me with invaluable insights into the coordination, management, and execution of construction projects.
In summary, my internship with Evans was a transformative experience that not only introduced me to the intricacies of construction but also equipped me with essential skills and knowledge that will undoubtedly serve as a solid foundation for my future endeavors in the construction industry. I am deeply grateful for the guidance and mentorship provided by the Evans team throughout this enriching journey.I am forever grateful for experiencing my first internship at Evans. With no previous knowledge about construction and the contracting process, I was exposed to so many new concepts and processes.

Georgia Power Economic and Community Development 2023
During my internship, I was under Charlie Moseley, the Statewide Economic Manager, and worked with the Community Project Managers as well!
I was entrusted with a diverse range of responsibilities that greatly contributed to my professional growth. I conducted extensive web-based research, meticulously analyzing and comparing workforce development programs in five southeastern states. Additionally, I undertook the formidable task of crafting a comprehensive Master PowerPoint slide deck for the entire team, which consisted of individuals from various backgrounds such as Engineering, Research, Marketing, Community Project Management, and Economic Project Management. This slide deck covered a myriad of topics, including the introduction of Georgia's 12 regions, the history and progress of the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), attractions of Georgia, the Renewable Resource Program (RRP), Power Purchasing Agreements (PPA), Plant Vogtle, Renewable Energy Credits (RECs), and more. I also had the privilege of attending an economic and community development PM retreat spanning three days, where I had the opportunity to meet with Georgia Power's legal team.
Moreover, I gained invaluable exposure to high-stakes economic development presentations aimed at convincing Forbes 100 executives of the merits of choosing Georgia. To further enhance my understanding, I accompanied regional community development PMs to local, county, and internal meetings across Georgia.
Furthermore, I took on the responsibility of updating and modernizing the official website, www.selectgeorgia.com, making it not only visually appealing but also user-friendly and informative. In summary, my internship experience was a dynamic journey that encompassed research, presentations, networking with Forbes 100 companies, fieldwork, and website enhancement, all of which enriched my skill set and knowledge base in the realm of economic development and workforce analysis.

Chess and Community 2023
In October 2022, I took my dog to Tybee Island, overlooking the "no dogs allowed" signs, as the beach was deserted, the weather chilly, and I yearned to witness her swim. What began as a beautiful moment took an unexpected turn when I received a substantial fine for violating the local regulations. Rather than simply paying the penalty, I opted to complete 30 hours of community service at Chess and Community in Athens, a decision for which I remain profoundly grateful.
In the time leading up to the conclusion of my lease in Athens, I dedicated myself to the Chess and Community initiative, immersing myself in the endeavor to assist attendees spanning from middle school students to individuals in their mid-twenties. My role involved offering guidance on enhancing their resumes and career skills, collaborating on robot-building projects for upcoming competitions, and acquiring the art of chess. On my very first day, I was entrusted with leading a group of 20 participants through a resume workshop, a task that forced me to adapt and overcome my initial apprehension of public speaking.
The Chess and Community program and organization left an indelible impression on me. This eye-opening experience not only allowed me to give back to my community but also instilled in me a deep commitment to continued volunteerism and community engagement.
Thank you Life, Lemuel LaRoche!
